A lot of MK1 focus owners (including me when I had mine) tend to go for Eibach springs, these are available directly from Ford and will lower your car approximately 30mm.

If I remember correctly they cost around £130 supplied from a Ford dealership. Fitting price will depend where you go.

Eibachs are indeed the recommended springs for a Fcous as they are an option from Ford, but it depends on how low you want to go, and what size wheels you will be running smile

I used to have the eibachs and 17 inch alloys and never had a problem even when i had myself and 3 or 4 others in the car.

Not sure about 40mm though

The only thing I'd recommend is to get you're wheels re-aligned after having the springs fitted.

I don't think it's a big job, mainly depends on the condition of your current springs and fixings, ie: if your car has rusty or seized fixings it's obviously more work for the garage

I've had Eibachs on 2 cars, they're on my S2000. Very good make of spring. Buy them from the dealer, then just get a local garage to fit them. I paid a mechanic £100 cash to fit them to my old MR2.

You will definately have to get a full geo done afterwards, not just 'tracking' at halfords. The settings will all be out and your tyres will wear unevenly. It'll also ruin the handling. I don't know what a full 4-wheel laser alignment would cost for a Focus, maybe £80?
