After 2 years of driving a 1.0 12v Corsa I decided it was time for a new car!

Its on a 03 plate 80k miles and powered by the devils fuel. Got it for £1,600 which i think is a good deal!

Can't wait to pick it up

Also was wondering will it be a TDi, TDDi or TDCi? Is there any difference between the TDi and TDDi?

Thanks smile

TDDi is the old fashioned Endura rattly low powered one (like wot I've got)
TDCi is the more modern one

I didn't think there was a plain TDi

Sounds like a great deal. The parents' focus is an 04 90bhp TDi estate and whilst rattly and underpowered, it's really nice to drive. Feels new at 73k miles.

I think at the time they made the TDi (old, rattly diesel but economical and reliable) and the TDci (much more modern and for higher spec models)

ETA: you're right, might be the TDDi rather than TDi

What I'd also say is that having driven a fairly wide range of newer cars, the steering, brake and gearchange balance are the best I have ever tried - I was pleasantly surprised when I got in for the first time!

Can't help feel that the old spec engine will go on forever, unstressed and tried and tested, can't moan for that price.

On a private test track of course I have seen 115 on the sat nav!

Thanks for the helpful little review Dave, after a little research i think that there was only a TDDi and TDCi, don't know where i got the TDi from!

My dad had a TDDI for ages, was a reliable engine and made pretty good torque, not worth revving past 4k rpm though. smile

That'll be the injectors blowing up and the DMF exploding.

Clearly someone who's never driven a Focus! Certainly for a family hatch far more entertaing than it really has any right to be!
Probably a TDDI on an 03 plate.

Why are they fitted? The only advantage I can think of is to help stabilize the torque output to create a more gentle ride?

03 plate will be a TDCI and it really wont be dull to drive, the Mk1 Focus is a great car to drive. I would have a TDCI myself but I prefer an engine that keeps on revving lol.

Stick some pics up when you get it smile

didn't they sell the TDDi and the TDCi at the same time in Britain then? Mine's an 03 TDDi

Good choice, i've got a mk1 TDCi and i love it! I experienced a similar upgrade; went from a 106 1.1 to the Focus. Do you know which trim (LX, Zetec, Ghia etc) you're getting?

Also, given what i paid for mine 6 months ago i think you got a pretty good deal!

Pretty sure that is correct, when I was selling Fords they mostly were still the TDDI engine on that reg.
