Just after a little advice, my focus 2.0 is on its 2nd cambelt with 140k on the clock, ( it was replaced at 90k) now the haynes manuel ive got states the belt should be good for 75k (ford say 100k), therefore it should be well in within the safezone.

My concern is that when I start her up from cold, theres an obvious squeaking sound witch sounds very much like a lose belt, I'm pretty sure these zetecs only have the one belt covering the cams, alternator and aircon pump, so i'm thinking this squeaking could only be coming from the cambelt. If so, is this bad? Or am I worrying about something silly? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'd do it before you lunch the engine if you are worried.

I test drove a car and on the test drive the cambelt went.

Not pretty

No they have two belts the cambelt does only the cams on a zetec, you have an aux drive belt (the one you can see under the bonnet (cambelt behind a caover) if its squeaking you would be wise to get it checked out but its most likely the aux belt which should be less than £50 to change. There is a tensioner for the aux belt that at that mileage may be the cause of the squeak hth Neilsmile

My old 1.8 Focus had the same squeaking noise. Even after the cam belt was changed, its the aux belts pulleys, they need to be replaced its a sign of the bearings going. Ideally these should be done when the actuall cambelt is changed.

How to change belt here if your compotent enough

I'm pretty sure they don't.

It's probably a tensioner squeaking. They should be replaced when the belt is done.
