I recently bought a 2.8i capri as a project for the summer and currently, things are running smoothly.

Where this project grinds to a halt is in the engine bay. I know that ford gearboxes are generally very durable but I have intentions of fitting a turbo to the block.

Would the extra power be too much for the gearbox or would it be smooth sailing?

If any of you out there have any information on this or have done this your self it would be greatly appreciated if you could share your knowledge.

Many thanks, Jack

p.s. which turbos did people use? thanks.

IIRC..both the 4 & 5 speed box are used during the production of the 2.8 with the early model 4 speed`s being seen as being the strongest of the 2 but with turbo aspirations, it may not be as flexable for top speed.

Garrett T3 would be my suggestion..easily sourced & comes in a nice variety of sizes if needed.

Article below suggests Turbo Techniques might re-release the 2.8i turbo F9 & F26 kits.

Best of luck.
