Hi guys,

I have a Y reg Ford Ka. On the heating setting, 1 and 2 do not blow anything, only 3 and 4 actually seem to allow air flow. Also, it seems to constantly be cold, no matter what temperature setting its on. I've just spent the last hour putting in a new heater control valve (Curse my big hands....) and it hasnt worked. Anyone any other ideas?

Sounds like the heater control unit is knackered, ie the module that the heat/blower speed/blower position dials control. I might have one in the shed if you have no luck on ebay/local scrappy.

Apologies for my ignorance, but are the resistor pack and control unit the same thing?

So far as I know, there is no "control" as such, it is all old fashioned resistors. Push the passenger seat back and look under the dash near where the passenger's right foot normally rests. If is only held in with 1 screw. Any damage should be pretty obvious.

Yup does sound like a resistor pack, its a common fault.

Thanks for replies guys. My hard work seems to have paid off... we have hot air now. I think we had to let the water circulate for a while for the 'repair' to kick in.

Still no fan speed on 1 and 2. Will try the resistor pack, and sounds like an easy DIY too. Cheers.
