I noticed shortly after buying my 2003, 2.0 Focus that it has a rattle at under 2,200 rpm when you floor it from low revs or when you labour the engine. It only does it once the engine has warmed up a bit and the car drives fine apart from 1st occasionally being a bit notchy.

Ive made this short video to show what I mean

Anyone else had the same kind of thing as its starting to get on my nerves now.

Thats uncanny, I have the exact same problem on my 2000 2.0 focus, and unfortunetley also have no idea what it is.
On a brighter note, I've done nearly 50k since it started and its never got any worse or caused any problems, so can't be serious.
Would be nice to know what it is though!

HAd a look at the cat heat shield as its right up in the engine bay but its still attached properly. Someone on passionford has mentioned its the bracket on the down pipe after the cat, but the cars in for MOT tomorrow so shall see if they find anything.

Swirl flaps in inlet manifold rattling. You need to get this fixed NOW, before loose flaps are injested by the engine, leading to new engine time.

Search for Duratec inlet manifold flaps on Google.

Mines a zetec, does that use the same system?

edit; And btw the car passed its MOT with advises on low rear pads, play in both inner track rod ends and a small chip in the windscreen which isnt so bad smile

Is the engine a Zetec, or the trim level Zetec? Not the same thing. (Make you wonder why Ford made a trim level the same as the engine name, just to add confusion I suspect?).
