Hi guys

I am looking to sell my 330ci and quite fancy a bright orange focus ST.

Would really appreciate some help, I don't know much about the second gen ST's so pointers on what to look out for and problem areas would be muchly appreciated.

Problem Areas? You've never driven a focus, have you?

Solid as a rock. Great cars.

I am assuming the RS isn't an option?

The RS and ST are very different cars to drive. The ST is very comfortable with superbly balanced handling. It is more like a GT, with gutsy long legged acceleration rather than manic acceleration. The RS on the other hand is fairly hard riding and very responsive, a bit go kart like infact, with strong acceleration. There is bugger all torque steer by the way, although there is enough power to induce understeer if you accelerate hard too soon around a bend. It does become very fidgety in a straight line when accellerating hard on a poor surface in a straight line. It`s almost as if the Revo knuckle has sacrificed straight line stability (castor) to reduce torque steer.
There is quite a bit of torque steer with the ST.

Both are great fun, but in different ways.

Thanks Guys,

RE: Getting an RS, I do too many miles and would be sad to see me just put lots and lots of motorway miles on one.

I quite like the sound of the ST and how it drives, will try and get a drive in one on the weekend so I can be more definative if whether the ST sets me on fire dynamically.

Plus I really like the orange!

ST was a good choice for me... I think you might be slightly mad to get the orange though, as much as I like the orange I'd rather be a little more discreet!

RE: torque steer in the ST..........to be honest in standard form there is very little torque steer, way way less than say an Astra VXR. Now if you throw an aggressive map on then yeah it can be quite torque steery.

The ST is a great car, although i admit im biased. lol. But id say its far more accomplished than its rivals.

Good luck with the colour choice mate, id go for white wink

Unbiased opinion:
Ive just bought an ST after a R32 and a 4.2 RS4 (plus many more) and can honeslty say its a great car. Should have bought one years ago! Ive never owned Ford, always been VAG and VX. Its a well balanced package.

Going to take one for a drive on the weekend to see how I get on with it.

Funny enough the R32 was another one on my list along with 147 GTA 3.2

Will report back.
