So I'm half way into work this morning, dual carriageway, trundling along at say 50ish, engine light comes on on the dash. Dammit!!!! This happened before when I had a exhaust upgrade (Mongoose full turbo back, 100 cell cat), turned out to be MAF? sensor. Since then, been fine. Now it's come on again (last time was about a year ago).

Car's booked in with Ford for Monday morning, but wondered if I can be calmed down with "don't worry Simon, chances are it's x y z, cheap as chips"?

It's a 55 plate ST3, just under 23,000 miles.

Cheers, Simon.

Does the Focus have the ability to display fault codes on the dash LCD like the Mondeo? The problem with that bd little light is it can mean a £50 bill or a £1000!!

Hi Dave, nope, nothing on the display, just that damned yellow engine picture. I'm sort of hoping it's the sensor gone again. Fingers crossed Ford will pug their laptop in and call me to say all done, £50.00 please. But I doubt it.

Just as I was thinking of getting rid of it as well!!!!

I don't know how you do it but you have to hold down a certain button(or buttons), the dash then goes into diag mode. I bet the Focus has the same, Google may be your friend wink

Unfortunately mine's a pre-facelift so doesn't have the lcd display. Thanks for the reply's and help, really appreciate it. Worries the pants off of you when a light comes up though doesn't it?

Will keep you all up to date with results.

Simon.

Really? Well i didn't know that, i thought all Fords for quite a while have had the LCD display for mileage etc. Good luck with it, sure it will be something simple wink

That's true, mine does have a digital display, but it's not like the nice large red one that's shown in the clip, it's like a small green display version.

Ah well, things are always sent to try us I guess.

Alternatively if you know someone with a Dreamscience unit they can read DTC's and clear them if wanted.

Morning People. Update, if you're interested. Ford have just called, oxygen sensor 1, bank 2, below something threshold, or something like that. Being replaced tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Simon.
