Which Zetec engine

Hello im in the market for a 2.0 zetec engine and was wondering if there is major differences between the earlier silver top and the later black top. I am also wonder what sort of BHP is sensible from one of these. I do intend to use forced induction with the chosen engine but not sure which is better for modifying??? Any help is really appreciated. Thanks Andi

im pretty sure the black top is the better unit, you could even look out for a written off focus rs and have the engine,turbo and all ancilleries from that, it says on the rocker cover "duratec" but is it just s black top zetec engine.

165 on carbs/throttle bodies is easy on a standard engine, 230 blown. That's what I remember from researching a couple of years ago.

IIRC the tuners reckon that they need stronger interals beyond 230 bhp (pistons/conrods). The Focus RS engine which was essentially a black top had stronger internals from the outset. What's it going in?

its is going in to a mk4 fiesta which will be 4x4. its just a project that ive had my mind on for a while and hope that i can get the 4x4 to work. either that or the power will be too much for front wheel drive.
