Focus Dash intsrument FAULTS

[restless*native]

Just purchased a 2001 focus zetec 1.6 .
The dash instuments were working, then stopped, then worked etc.
Found a loose connection upon the fuse in the under bonnet fuse box.
Now they seem to be working all the time BUT , upon starting up of the engine they go into test mode where each dial does its full range test and the trip mileage is not counting up..

Any resolve ideas??
Anyone had similar??
