1.4 ford focus mk1 Brake issue please help

Hi im wondering if anyone can help me.

i have owned my focus for over 3 yrs, and i have never experienced the following until now.

When i am reversing and i gently tap the brake it makes a rather loud tapping noise.

however when i driving in general the brakes seem perfect no squeak or grind.

Does anyone know what the problem is and how i can get it backto normal
