Hi All,
just wondered if anyone knows why Scorpio's , especially cosworth 24v one's are so popular. When they appear on ebay they get snapped up really quickly.

Cheers
Geoff

It is a cheap(ish) way to 240bhp

How do you go about getting 240 bhp from the 24v Cosworth cheaply? They were only 196 bhp and even the later engines were only 206 bhp.

You are correct though, people buy them just for the engine. There are a lot of XR4x4s with this conversion.I know a guy that's putting one in his Capri at the moment too.

I have seen several figures for the BHP on these , mostly around 206bhp , I guess You just take off all the extra bits of load to release more power for the wheels. Which is what I will be doing when I fit one in My TVR Taimar.

Have one of these in the collection.

They are very well specked for the year, fully electric, CD changer, Computer, Cruise control.

And are a very cheap way into the ownership of a Cosworth.

There is actually two differnet engines in these, the BOA (Granada Scropio)194BHP and the BOB (Bug-Eye Scropio) 206BHP.
The BOA is easier to transplant instead of the BOB.

This one was bought off a chap called Neil about two years ago on PH classifieds. Previous Reg, M47WAV

Just picked up My donor car at the weekend and thought it is such a nice car that I might drive it about for a bit before removing engine etc. Just been quoted £427 for insurance on a car that cost £500 ! I'm nearly 50 with clean license so was expecting a bit better than that. no "no claims" for this car thou as that is used on my daily driver so that probably hoicks it up a bit.

If anyone wants any bits from the interior / lights / bodywork let me know before they go on ebay in the next couple of weeks , it is a 1995 ultima estate in bluey gray colour. I will give you a good price , honest guv. smile

a lot of these are bought just for the engines, Transit owners love fitting them into their vans

Transit's have the MT75 gearbox , if I understand it correctly , which is the gearbox best suited to this engine rather than the type 9 box ????

Anyone got one they don't want ?

cheers
