Capri, Essex to Cologne What year?
Discussion
What he said. The mk3 granada signalled the introduction of the 2.3 and 2.8 cologne engine in 1977, the capri 2.8 of Y/A reg vintage was cologne. I had one of the last 3.0 essex capris, x reg hence 1981/82. I don't remember any 2.8 capris released with an x plate so UK may have lagged behind Europe with respect to the capri.

Last 3.0 Capris were eventually sold on 'X' plates.

O/T remember seeing a lhd Capri mk3. It was a 3.0 l. Not a spec we saw over here
Interesting you say that, i remember back in the early 90's on a booze cruise to France, in one of the supermarket carparks there was a French registered Capri MKIII that was badged 3.0 L & didn't even have a rev counter!!

My first Capri was a 2.8i and was registered in July 1981. IMO the four speed was much better than the later 5 speed - felt a lot quicker than my subsequent 5 speeders
the 4 speed was DEFINITELY a stronger box yielding better performance and drive.iirc the 4 speed 2.8i was the fastest mass production eurpoean ford until the cosworths came out? 129 top speed rings a bell.
