hey people,

i've been toying with the idea of fitting a dump valve to my focus st225 for ages.
the st owners club seems to think that fitting one is the work of the devil and their forums are a bit useless on this subject. the posts that i have read mention that some are getting boost problems once the dump valve is fitted??? is this because they've only fitted a dump valve and done nothing else? i.e.air filter/ stage 1 perhaps.
any feed back from anyone that has had a dump valve fitted to thier focus st would be greatly recieved.

cheers.

most newer turbo stuff gets the hump with a dump valve fitted, as it upsets the engine management. do the ST have a recirculating type fitted as standard??

if so, just replace that with an aftermarket recirculating type, and if you have a free flowing air intake, you shoulod get a nice amount of noise from it when it operates biggrin

it does have a recirculating valve as standard. where can you get an aftermarket one from everywhere im looking all i find is dump valves.
what your saying is that if i fit an air filter and a new recirculating valve i'll get some noise from the thing?
youll have to excuse my lack of mechanical knowledge, as you can see i'm not that practical when it comes to this stuff

they should list recirculating dump valves most places that sell the atmospheric ones. my mate has a 1.8t golf gti with an aftermarket recirc dump vlve and a cone filter, makes plenty of noise too biggrin

but not too chavvy a whoosssh noise like the r5 and escort chav wagons biglaugh

The question surly is WHY
The ST is fitted with a recycling type as standard the only reason i could see to change is if you raised the boost above the standard ones limits?
But if you are thinking of changing? do not fit one that vents to atmosphere (ie not recycling) as it mess up the engine management.

No, just No.

Its ok on an Impreza / Evo / Skyline, but not a Focus.
