Mondy ST, Coil Light on & Loss of Power???
Discussion
Hello, I have a Mondeo ST 220 TDCi on a 56 plate. This has happened before but never really had anyone to have a look at as it doesn't often happen, probably 7-8 times over the last 2 years (althought 3-4 over the last week).
The Problem. There I am plodding along about 70mph & I can actually feel a loss of power from the car suddenly. Then the Coil light starts flashing at me. I can still accelerate but its very very slowly, it's almost as if the Turbo isn't working. I can pull over & turn the engine off then it seems to go. There doesn't seem to be any sort of pattern when it happens.
If anyone could help with any information possible I'd be most greatful. Or even if its happened to you, did you find a solution? I doubt this is an ST problem but could a problem throughout Mondy Diesels in genral.
Thanks

Ford quote is £200 minus £30 when actually bought (for some reason). £45-90 for a diagnosis & god knows how much for them to fit. I didn't expect it to be that much tbh. So I think I'll google the part number (1563499) to see if I can get any cheaper & try to install myself. The Ford bloke said its a very very popular part to replace... nuggets.
Did you install yourself? or would you recommend getting a pro to do the job?
EDIT: or from here for £137 http://www.partsreunited.co.uk/category/300/Ford/l...

Flashing Coil light and limp home mode? EGR... Kinda annoying 'cos it's the only thing not really mentioned in the handbook. Orange light = warning, red light = stop, flashing? WTF?Did you install yourself? or would you recommend getting a pro to do the job?

Mine went twice in 88kish. They seem to live about 30-40k. I think mine was £120 from normal parts place, and fitting was only £40-50 from an indie IIRC...
Those were the only problems I had. (And a worn wheel bearing which was still there when I pxed it.) Compared to the car that's replaced it, it was a paragon of reliability.
