Just brought the above a a fuel efficient run about, given that my 2004 3litre Rodeo only returns 18mpg and the MX5 Turbo isnt a very family friendly car.

Really pleased with the mondeo, drives nice and goes well.

Question is, where should the temp guage be in day to day driving, mine appears to be running cold in my opinion but want to clarify.

Cheers

James

Not sure if it's any help, but my Focus TDCi runs a little bit on the cool side of the mid-way point on the gauge. I'm sure yours is fine as it is.

Cheers, mines about there. much rather it be on the cool side than the other!!!!

Going up north this evening 250ish mile so will see where it settles at on a run.

Used to watching my MX5 which has a digital temp and tells me the exact temp.

The Focus just gets to that point and never deviates once warmed up.

My old Octavia vRS was the same - warms up to the same point exactly and never moved.

Well it ran perfectly and returned 52mpg sitting at a steady 85mph.

What a relaxing car to drive.

Engine temperature gauge should be exactly halfway when warmed up. If it's any lower eg. around a quarter and/or also unstable dependant on engine load then you have a faulty oil cooler thermostat. Its a very common Mondeo problem and most people don't even realise there is a fault or know about the stat. It is a very easy fix and is about £15 from Ford. I have a 'how to' guide to doing the job that I put together for the the guy's on the Mondeo site.

Part number for the stat is 1114968.

The Temp gauge was at exactly half way when warm and didnt move, stayed there all the time.

Wouldnt mind a couple of blue lights in the grill though, move the traffic out the way a bit!!!

Sounds good, I am pleasently surprised with the car.

Considering we were only looking for a cheapish 3rd car to run about it, I think we have found a gem.

Looks nice, comfy with all the leather and quite a few toys.
