'Key not detected' on ST3

Ive recently been having problems with the Start button and the general remote central locking on my ST. more recently this has included the 'Key not detected' error message on the dash.

I have changed the battery last week, but today I had the problem again - any ideas?

Hmm, strange one, i assume you know you can use the key to gain entry & to start up etc if it doesn't detect at all?

Taken from the focus rsoc website,

'When the car is working normally the little round red light will flash 3 times during starting and then go out (one in centre of dash near the top above the red info square one).
If there is a problem the red light will stay on and/or flash like mad at you.
After a lot of flashing it generally flashes an error code, flashes followed by a pause. one flash, one pause and six flashes means error 16.'

If yours is showing that then it looks like a trip to the dealer i'm afraid!

Cheers, It doesnt prevent me from starting the car - I just lock and re-open the car and this normally works (even if it takes a few goes)

Ah i see, have you got a 2nd remote key you can try?

On my RS, i used the same key all the time & after a year, it started saying 'key not detected' so just used the 2nd remote key instead! Of course even though you have changed the battery, it could be a duff one & the colder weather also affects it!
