I have a Mk2 Fiesta ghia 1.3 and i plan to transplant the 1.8 Zetec engine from my newly acquired 1994 escort into the fiesta. I have got a manifold, carb and conversion loom to put the zetec on a carb, but i have heard the engine top mount from the cvh engine needs changing or modifying for the zetec to fit.

Can anybody shed light on what mods the mount needs or whether there is a mount out there that will fit.

dont quote me but I seem to recall some lasds doing bits liek this to thier escorts, and something along the lines of the starters being on opposite sides to the previous..

Mind this was a few years ago.

being a '94 wolud that be the 115 or 130 spec engine??

Some lads when and fitted the 2ltr cams and throttle bodies to the 1.8's and managed to get up to the 145 bhp mark, plus other mods.

I do realise you'll be running a carb so not all applies to this.

If i can remember the site address I'll post it up for you smile

this isn't the exact address

http://www.fiestaturbo.com/forums/?sid=3ecd867e6b6...

but ford-force.com doesnt seem to be running,

If you speak to a guy called 'scorted' he's pretty much a wizard at this thing.

I used to be on FF with him smile

Best bet is to have a look on zetecinside.com on how Graham installed a Zetec in a Mk1 which will have the same mounting points. IIRC there is a certain amount of mixing and matching to do on the engines with pullies, clutches etc but not massively difficult.

Just chop the bottom part of a cvh engine mount bracket to clear the oil filter & it will bolt on ok with 2 bolts, if your worried about losing the bolt dont be i have run a 250bhp+ escort turbo & done 310,000 miles it an escort van with the same bracket wink

Also you will need to use a cvh flywheel with the bolt holes drilled out 1mm for the zetec bolts & a standerd Escort turbo clutch (seris 2) will work fine with it & be good for 170bhp ish.

As for the starter you can mount it front or back depending where your gearbox has it, makes no differance.

thanks for all the info, Ive got someone actually modding a mount for me to use with the zetec, keeping 3 holes as well.

The manifold and carb im going to use is one built for bangers i think. its got a 32/36 DGAV carb thats really tired (hopefully can bring it back). im a bit worried that the manifold won't actually fit into the engine bay once the engine is in, but we shall see.

Im now looking for a LSD to go in, does anybody know where there is a good used rs turbo lsd for sale?
