I've decided to get an ST TDCI instead of an ST220 as unfortunately I don't think I could afford the fuel on an ST220 on my commute. I've been looking at the ST Tdci and noticed that hardly any come with the lovely Recaro interior that the ST220 comes with as it was not standard on the derv version. I'm hoping to evetually retrofit the Recaro interior if I ever see one for sale.

Anyway I've seen this one on PH.

Is this a good price for one of these? I noticed the steering wheel doesn't have the ST badge on it. Is this the standard ST steering wheel with the badge that has just fallen off? The thought of the airbag having been deployed in the past entered my mind but if it's HPi clear than I doubt I could tell if its been in an accident in the past.

Apart from the usual stuff is there anything specific I should look out for with this model?

Oh and does anyone now if there is any decent aftermarket projector headlamps for the MM3 mondeo?

Thanks smile

I'm 99% certain that all the ST TDCi's came with the ST badge on the steering wheel.

As for Xenons, get secondhand OEM Ford lights, don't piss about with aftermarket kits.

I've just been having a look at pictures of year 2004 and 2005 ST Tdci for sale on PH, and various othr sites and it seems all the 2004 ST Tdci's dont have the ST badge. Some of the 2005 models don't have it. All the 2006 models I've seen have it. Not really sure what to make of that.

Oh really? That does surprise me. I could understand towards the end of a models run as all sorts of things appear / disappear, but mid-way seems a bit strange! But then again, this is Ford biggrin

I have an 05 ST and it's been fine, just look into the faults on that page on the ST OC help area so you know what to look for.

I too have an 05 ST TDCi. Mine hasnt got the ST badge on the steering wheel either.

They are however a really good car, mines done over 140k miles and still runs perfect.

I recently bought an ST TDCI on a 55 plate. Its silver with all the bits like the Recaros and the Xenons. They do seem to come up now and then with these options but you will need to be patient. I can honestly say for the short time I have owned the car I am really pleased. I paid £6100 for the car with 62k on the clock and for the money it feels like a lot more of a car than that. The seats do add that extra bit of a special feel to the interior which I personally feel it would lack without them.

As for common problems the two things that I was told to be aware of are the EGR valve going which is not overly expensive if it does and the injectors.

There are a couple for sale at the moment with the seats and xenons but the second one is a saloon. Not sure what your budget is. You wont be disappointed, comfortable, economical, reasonable performance and most important to me is that mine doesnt have any annoying creaks or rattles. Good luck with your search mate.
