The Mrs drove through a deepish puddle the other day in our 55 plate Tdci Focus. During the following night the alarm went off quite a lot, enough for the neighbour to come round.

The next day the battery was dead. After some fiddling, disconnecting the battery and drying out the top fusebox, I got it started with a jump but the dash, wipers and indicators were doing their tits.

I called a mechanic mate who told me it might be the fusebox in the passenger footwell. We drove it over to him to take a look at and the engine wouldn't shut off, even with the ignition off and no key in it.

He cleaned out and dried the lower fusebox and got the car back to us saying that after a phonecall, Ford are aware of the water ingress in Focus fuseboxes and LOTS are on backorder. Not only that but if it needs a new one, only ford can programme it to the car and it costs nearly £300. WTF? Really?

So, currently, the drivers door won't open with the key fob only with the key, although the others all do plus and most annoyingly, the fuel flap won't unlock. Yesterday I had to pull off the cover and bend the arm to get at the cap! Is there an override lever somewhere inside?

Tonight the ABS light and the red 'exclamation' (the Mrs' words) have come on.

Anyone got any ideas? Anything gratefully received.

They need to program in a fusebox?

So I've been told. Programme it to the car. Programme to print more money if you ask me.

Its not actually just a fuse box its a bcm/bsi module as well, its a computer which is why it needs programming.
Its the way of the world now.
think yourself lucky at the moment, some current cars need brake pads or even light bulbs programming in or resetting.
A decent independant garage could do this without the need to be fleeced at a main dealer.
