2k focus 1.8tdi starting issues

Having issues getting my car started, have found that puting it in gear and rocking car gets something unstuck (solenoid on starter???) and i can then start.. If i buy a new starter, its not likely to be something else causing this and thus me wasting 100 quid on a new starter?
