Hi Folks, looking for a car as above for a friend probably 07/08 model with less than 40000 miles. Anything I should be aware of before pulling the trigger? Cheers.

Injector seals. My wife's developed a leak, noticeable psht psht sound. Replaced under warranty, otherwise the labour charge at a ford dealer can be strong.

Thanks Tezzer, injector seals aside has your wife been pleased with her Fiesta? What sort of MPG does it achieve?

Cheers.

I have a 2007 1.6 TDCi, bought in March 2009 at 16k now approaching 60k. No problems so far.

I do a 55mile run to work each way. I get anywhere between low 50's and low 70's mpg depending how I drive it, that is mostly motorway though, guess it would drop a fair bit if just used for local journeys.

Thanks Russ, is the 1.6 a newer engine than the 1.4?

I believe the 1.6 is a PSA sourced engine, don't know much about the 1.4.
I did test drive a new shape 1.4 Fiesta before I bought mine, but didn't feel it was quick enough for motorway driving. The 1.6 is 90bhp, I think from memory the 1.4 is 70bhp.

The 1.4 TDCi is a PSA engine also, having featured in such automotive greats as the 206 1.4 HDi. It is an old engine now, and tbh if you can find a 1.6 then all the better.
