First time TVR Owner Insurance

Hi,

I know we get a few requests for recommended insurance companies, but does anyone know a good company for a first time TVR owner? My mate's about to buy one and I know that my company only insures drivers who've had 2 years experience driving powerful sports cars.
I'm not sure whether an MR2 counts as a sports car, especially not a WHITE one Sorry - couldn't resist.

Had a few problems trying to get companies to even give me a quote let alone insure me on my Griff when I bought it a couple of years ago.I would strongly recomend Sunninghill (tel:[phone]) they are great and very helpful.If anyone from Sunninghill is reading this thread some more discount for the promo would be cool

Classicline TVR: 01455-891330 insured me in my first year, and i had no previous sports car.
I've insured with them again this year my 2nd year of TVR ownership.

Classic line insured me on my first TVR an S3 6 years ago and i havent had a better deal/package from anyone else since.

I used Cheam last year for my first time with no previous TVR or high perfomance experience. This year went for Liverpool Victoria because I have 9 points and they do not take points into consideration! These might help

For me in london as a 35year old with a 28 year old being a named driver the best on a Tamora we have found is £1097 from Elephant (admiral). Everyone else has been way higher!

I went from MR2 Turbo to Tuscan with A. Mannings....decent price. 2nd year, they weren't competive, so went with ClassicLine, renewed with them this 3rd year.

Elephant were the cheapest by miles when i got my first TVR. Very expensive -v- brokers in Year 2, but most brokers wern't interested in me unless I'd driven a RWD sportscar before.

I was 24, Chim 400, living in Beds - paid about £1000 I think. Went down to £750-odd the next year with Mannings, then down to £650-odd the following year with Sunninghill (AND a change to a Griff 500!)

Speak to lots of people!

Where did you find out about them? Had just signed up with tesco for £600. Tried loads of companies (including all of those mentioned above) for my renewal after Sunninghill's premiums went through the roof (even with no claims made, I just turned 30 with 5+ years NCB). Everyone was quoting £600+ with excess of £400+ with no track day cover. MSM Insurance quoted me £430 and £150 excess for exactly the same policy! (wife & I fully comp, protected NCB, legal cover, garaged, limited 7500 miles, me-3 points, wife-one claim, no track day cover).

Thankfuly Tesco have a 14 day cooling off period, just called and cancelled (no hassle, thumbs up to Tesco for that).

Marcos Maniac/Pistonheads just saved me £200! Cheers! Owe you a mate big time!

moneysupermarket.com do 50! They got me a better quote than confused. Worthless in the end anyway as I got my NCB wrong

I Have used them for a few years now - they were the only company to quote me a realistic price when I had the Mantis.

I've recommended them on loads of 'what insurance co' threads

Well JB's done it and bought his first TVR. A 1996 Black Chimaera 4.0. Get in!
