Should there be window sealant down the sides of my Window. There is at the top and bottom but i can lift the rubber seal up on both sides and see the edge of the glass.I would of thought there should be, but there is not marks or any bits of old sealant anywhere to be seen.
Also does anyone know of any good glass repair kits as i know have a stone chip about 3 by 3mm dead centre of my screen.

Cheers

Check your insurance - it probably has free stone chip repair from Auto windscreens or whoever. It takes about half an hour, and the result is very good.

Hi

I believe the windows are bonded on to the frame - the rubber strip just tidies up the edges.

I asume you'e talking about the windscreen here.
It might be an idea to buy some window sealant, otherwise you'll get water seeping into the lamination of the windscreen, which will then result in the white marks at the bottom of the screen (like what I've got!).

I thought the windscreen delamination was caused by flexing? ie the back of the screen is bonded to the frame, and when the frame flexes, the top layer begins to separate from it.

I understand that delamination - the milky effect - is caused by both water ingress and the fact that the bottom corners are subject to most stress. Does anyone know if it can be stopped by adding more sealant under the rubber?

Yes, it can. I used silicone glue. It works fine - even when I go through the car wash.

The car wash bit was a joke...

Cheers lads,i have some sealant allready as there was a small gap at the bottom where i believe the bonnet had lifted it when it had been opened.
Havnt checked my insurance for the chips cover and if i have an excess of £200 proberly wont matter unless its free with the cover
