Anyone not wanting their Carbon Cans?

Gents,

I currently have sleeved standard cans, but the weight has just cracked the weld on my back box.

So - thinking about changing to some (ligher hopefully) Carbon Cans - im guessing they are similar weight to the standard can without the stainless sleeve. I cant go back to 'quiet'!!

I know for some CCC's are a step too far - some buy them then take them back off - wondered if anyone has a set hiding in a garage?

If not, then i guess im going to have to bite the bullet for a brand new set!!

I'm also decatted. Yes, they are loud but not had any complaints yet.

will have a look. Didnt really want to be buying a new set of cans right now tho!! I will if i have too i guess, will see how easy the fix is and if i can prevent it happening again - if not, new set it will be!

I think i prefer the open pipe finish rather than the stubby exhaust from the end of the can - just preference i guess!

Thanks guys i know how much they are new, will get some if i need to, but i often see people on here having put them on then take them off cause they think they are too loud...just thought it was worth asking the question....

Why dont you find out where your closest TVR meet is? Someone is bound to have the aftermarket cans on and you could have a listen?

Have a pair of standard carbon cans (unsleeved) in the garage if your desperate, they make a similar racket to CCCs when sleeved

I put them on mine then had it decatted...IMHO it was a horrible raspy sound. I have since had the cats put back in and kept the CCC's and the sound is spot on, not too loud with plenty of pops and bangs.

Thanks for the help guys, just to clarify, my intention with the thread was to understand if anyone had a pair of Carbon Cans hidden away at home that needed selling on!! It seemed that there may be a good chance as so many people put them on then decide its too much and put the standard ones back on!!

It seemed daft buying brand new if this was the case, but regardless like i say i will buy a set if i need to (and im guessing i need to, as no-one has responded with any CCC's!)

I have decat and sleeved standard exhausts and i love the noise, the voloume, the pops and bangs....though i wish i could take some of the raspiness out...

Would it not be cheaper just to have the rear boxes repaired or replaced. The sleeve down the standard cans don't weigh anything significant and you'll still have to repair the back-box which ever style of can you go for.

As an alternative, why don't you leave the cans alone and remove the back-boxes complete. Advanced Automotive Systems in Newcastle have done this to mine and the sound is very similar to a De-cat without the MOT worries, and being a curved pipe there are no back-box welds to fail due to the weight of the cans and they ghave their own stainless hanger too .

Thanks for the help gents, popped out last night to see a guy that can help.

Think the best option for me is to repair the back box (he thinks it will repair) and then support the can with a band / hanger / bobbin arrangement ala Motorbike cans(TBD!). I figure with any can i risk the same thing happening again...

will let you know how i get on
