That was filmed from with my Griff, my precat Griff, hence why it's pleasing on the ears.
Funny thing was there is a red (ish) Chim in front of us both, who spun off on the following corner.
This was filmed on the City Region track day a few weeks ago, and for all those who went home early, as a result of the rain, this is what the afternoon turned out like.
More footage to follow if anyone is interested??

I believe I am that red Chim! It was my first lap out for a while - after waiting for the track to dry out. It seemed fairly dry by then. As I came away from the esses I noticed the tuscan spinning in my mirror and I thought "that's a funny place to spin!". One second later I was doing the same coming out of the bombhole DOH! In my brief distraction I had forgotten that the was a huge puddle on the exit from the bombhole that I had managed to avoid all day. This time I didn't and I assume I aquaplaned on it as my back end overtook me very quickly. Luckily it just spun round but then dug itself into the grass on the infield and stopped quite abruptly.
I would be very interested in seeing the next bit of the video if it has my spin on it.
All in all it was a good day and definately worth waiting til the end.
I've booked to go to Castle Coombe - never been there before - is it any good for spinning?
Should have Nitrons fitted by then - might help to keep me on track (might not of course).

No it isn't. There are rather too many places where a bad spin will mean a trashed and quite probably terminally rogered car.
Build up to the limit slowly and carefully. A few years ago a Chim 500 was totally written off at Quarry. To be treated with respect..
But it is quite a laugh - I always enjoy it...

There are only two "safe" places to spin at Coombe, at the Esses and at Bobbies, as they both lead towards the inside of the circuit.
It may pay at this time of year to fit a harvester attachment to the car though, at this time of year.
What ever you do, treat Camp, Tower & Quarry with respect, they will hurt the car!!
The funniest thing I ever seen there, was an idiot in a skyline on his first lap of the day, so steaming past me going through avon rise, at which point he realised that he was going to screw up, as did the car by the way it was trying to correct itself, from what the idiot behind the wheel was asking from it, and I must say I have never seen a car jump as high as that one did as it impacted into the tyre wall at Quarry.
There was not one straight panel down the length of the car on the Drivers side. The really funny thing was that someone stuck a set of L plates on the car at lunchtime, and he did one session before he realised what was on the car!!
Is anyone here going to the Car Club day down there next month?

It was VERY slippy on the clipping point of the second Esses on this years City region trackday. I had a number of wobbles there. The cornering speed there, relative to other corners, seemed a lot slower in the wet this year than the relative cornering speeds in the dry the year before. That is to say the reduction in grip seemed to be greatest at this corner.

Indeed - that looked to me like the Tuscan driver touched the brakes accidentally after the apex and - well - the inevitable occurred...

Did you touch the brakes trying to avoid him? Would be easy to do in the heat of the moment. Looks like you had scrubbed off a lot of speed when you went past.
I liked the way the Tusc flashed his lights to say hello as he was spinning! Cool!
To be fair, i think we were only doing about 40 mph then, and it was easy to react once you saw the back end starting to give way, what you did not see is this chap, blocking my path for about 6 laps, which is all captured on video. The previous lap he did go out really wide leading into this corner, and braked about a mile too early, so i tryed to nip up the inside of him. The following lap i guess it freaked him a bit and he was trying to get away from me as quick as poss....but didn't!!!!
