New clutch problem. (not mine)

Mac Jones is currently trying to solve a problem with his new clutch.

He has replaced the old one that was slipping with a 500lb/ft John Eales item but is not getting enough travel to completely release the plate.
I fitted the same clutch with no problems 2 years ago.

Any ideas to what may be causing the problem?

Mac wants to fix this asap to get to the pod on Saturday

Some thoughts...
1/ Is he sure that there hasn't been a fluid leak allowing air into the hydraulics, thus reducing the travel? (Or maybe some other problem relating to the master cylinder pushrod connection to the clutch pedal).
2/ Is it possible that the clutch release arm is worn where it pivots on the ball? These have been known to push right through.
3/ Is there any chance that the clutch plate has been fitted back to front (and I'm not sure that this is even possible)?

Cheers derek, got it working last night. Longer pushrod to master cylinder, adjusted the spigot out in bellhousing and spent an age bleeding it again and I reckon it was the latter that gave biggest problem. Strange though it doesn't feel any heavier than standard
