Air filter cleaning

Quick question.....what is the best way to clean a foam air cleaner. Thought about putting it in the dish washer. Good idea/bad idea

Jizer in a shallow bowl/tray,agitate while rotating and don't allow the dirty fluid to run back inside the filter then rinse with water from inside out thus pushing all the dirty fluid outwards then let dry naturally before re-oiling.

Putting anything in the dishwasher that is covered in oily sh*t is probably not condusive to a harmononious marital state and could result in the deprival of certain pleasures.
However if you're single go ahead, oh and buy some disposible plates...........:
