wind deflectors for a chimaera

i love driving with the roof off, my gf sometimes doesn't. ive seen one before but cant remember when or where, ive seen them for a Tuscan but i think that was a special make item. if anyone can help me out that would be great.

I seem to remember it was one of the Tuscan Convertible guys who had one. IIRC it was produced by one of the car cover companies (Classic Additions?) as a one off to gauge demand/production viability.

I deal with Classic Additions, all I can say is ask Adrian. If there is a business case I am sure he would have a go.

thanks Bob, if you could ask it would be great. as for the new gf she's fine. she had a go in a boxter when i first posted and enjoyed it with the deflector on and asked why tvr did'nt make one, so i figured i'd ask the masses if there were any out there.

OK next time I speak I will, just one thought, on my Griff with the Mullet up it has a similar effect to a wind deflector,have you tried this?

Hi Ozmira,
It is my Tuscan that has a Classic Additions deflector fitted.
Its a bit of a long story but the short version is that CA produced a prototype but TVR closed down on the day that they due to drive up to Blackpool for the test fit.

Before I got hold of mine, I called CA and spoke with Adrian (actually I think it was done by e-mail ???) but they were not interested for such a small market as Tuscan convertibles.
They may have a different opinion of the Chimaera and Griff market.
Not sure how you would fit it though.

Incidently, it was a perfect fit and good quality.

From what I've seen of them aren't they just a very fine mesh net?
We've got hoop type roll bars on both Griffs so they should be easy enough to attach in between the 2, although I've never really felt the need to.

I'd be very interested in one of these if they can be made like the one shown in the Tuscan. Perhaps they can be made with mounts that could be tightened onto the head rest columns with the actual deflector sitting behind the head rests as per the photos above.

I once saw one on a Griff. It was an item butchered from a Z3 (IIRC) that was fashioned to fit.

Personally, I'd buy the missus a hat.

To be perfectly honest, I think that it makes the back of my Tuscan look a bit too 'busy' and makes it a little difficult to reach the rear roof struts.
It does help a little but doesn't cut out all of the backdraft.

Yes its a very fine mesh. The frame makes it very stable and in my case was designed to be secures with only the two seatbelt bolts, which, on a Tuscan convertible, are in the center rather than on the body side !!! (TVR design at its best).
I was originally considering trying to get something from a scrap yard off a Porsche, Merc, MX5 or something.
My Chimaera has nowhere to fit one other than the suggested head rest mounts but I'm not sure how stable this would be.

Another idea would be to find a scrapped SLK and swap the seats over for the SLK seats with the 'warm air curtain' system. You would need to pipe in the warm air from the ventilation.

3 years ago I bought a wind deflector by "Windblox.com" in the US. I am very pleased with both the service from the company and the deflector. By "racegraphics.net" I bought a TVR decal for the deflector to make it look "original".
Check the pages to see models and prices. You will need a Ford Mustang deflector for the Chimaera, as the head rests are simular.
