Before anyone says it, no this isn't some thinly disguised bit of marketing by Peter Taylor, just a happy TVR owner passing on some info.

Having completed a full body-off chassis resto and mildly uprated my Chimaera 400 HC (4.6 engine, Gaz suspension, bigger brakes etc) the very best rate I could get was £450 from Mannings.

Today I called around one last time and PT quoted the following:

3000 miles/yr £190
6000 miles/yr £286

I've gone for the latter, it's fully comp, agreed value of £12k, allows parking on road at home (although it will garaged elsewhere most of the time) and they allow occasional commuting. To be fair, Mannings include track day cover which I forgot to ask about but so far I haven't done one of those.

Anyway, just thought I'd let folks know as it looks a lot better than everything else I found this year.

+1 for Peter Taylor.

Have had both my cars on classic, limited mileage policies with them for five or so years now.

Very happy with service and quotes.

I have only claimed on a windscreen. They were happy to let me use a third party supplier/installer (Glassman on PH) for my Tiv and upon sending in my receipt promptly had a cheque sent.

Just putting my 1992 4.3 griff back on the road after a full body off restoration. Phoned my previous insurers Frank Pickles who last year were the cheapest i could find and they wanted £292. for myself and my father on the policy.

Thought i`d try this Peter Taylor chap after seeing this thread. So glad i did. £137 yes £137. Thats with 3000 mile limit and agreed value of 13k. They said as it was a 1992 it could go down as a classic which has obviously helped with the price.

Thanks to saml666 for the heads up. smile

What impressed me was that they gave the basic rate without referring to the dreaded computer system which saved no end of time, I guess the downside is that they may miss returning some calls.

Was the rate worth chasing them for? My larger engine, brakes and suspension mods made no difference at all, even £12k agreed value on a 1994 car so I'd guess your wheels shouldn't be a problem?

Yeah she had me worried too actually, so was chuffed to get the all clear smile

Well, I'm not above trying my luck with R&H either, money is money at the end of the day and I'll get back to PT anyway (have yet to go ahead, might scrape a couple more squid off) so will do just that.

Oh ... er ... I'm sure a quick Google will remind who R&H are but have you got a web address?

Cheers,
Sam

RH Classic Insurance
In the end, RH wouldn't touch it as I wanted to be able to garage it most of the time at one address and park at home when in use on the road. Peter Taylor were happy with this, even occasional commuting use etc.

I've taken out the policy with them now, with a price like that, no worries on mods, flexibility on garaging and usage plus £12k agreed value I have to say I'm chuffed. smile
