New TVR For 40k ?

I've watched various arguments saying its not possible to build a TVR for 40k in the UK,so maybe its time to accept the future of TVR will be, to be built abroad with British skill and knowledge hopefully and hey who knows alot of the old workforce might like a move to somewhere like Florida !
This is a DDR Miami GT8,built in Fort Lauderdale,available in the UK for £40,000
5.7 V8 LS Chevvy
350bhp/350lbs ft
4.5 sec to 60 mph
180 mph top speed
Carbon-steel spaceframe chassis
Kevlar/Fibreglass Body

As I suspected it's a kitcar, just add your Corvette or Honda Accura and a lot of time to get a really crap McLaren F1 wannabe.

As i thought,thought this might cause someone to choke on their Horlicks,DDR started out in 2001 building kit cars,this is the result of ten years development and the GT8 is their first car available fully assembled,ready to roll in the UK for 40k.http://www.ddrmotorsport.com/

and Noble started the same way...No Horlicks spluttering here. 
It's irrelevent how long they've been building them it's still a kitcar with a truly awful interior trying to be a McLaren F1. I'd still question £40k ready to roll in the UK that would mean about £30k base once you'd added VAT, car tax and import duties.
I'd doubt if this is as good as an Ultima and would you really call an Ultima an alternative to a TVR? Even a good Ultima is a seriously compromised roadcar imo.

Didn't TVR's start out as Kit cars!!
I am sorry but a car is a car, It doesn't matter how its gestation occurs, The finished article looks ok for 40k. It isn't a TVR replacement though by any means.
I think a lot of people struggle with the fact that TVR was always a low volume low tech car which in effect became a productionised Kit type operation.
There is virtually no difference between the first to the last TVR in terms of its methods of construction, layout and sum of parts.
I think some people define "kit" as lesser in some respects, In todays kit industry their are some far more exotic and better developed cars than any TVR ever was, which probably speaks volumes as to why they still exist as companies and TVR doesn't !!

I see your point but as has been discussed ad nauseam here that requires buy-in by the brand owner and he's proved time and time again that he's incapable of sticking to one plan and following it through.The second and more important one is that even if pigs did fly the brand is tarnished enough without it being hammered even more by actually being a 'kit-car' company which after the heights(?) of the last T cars not to mention the other swould be a hugh retrograde step.
I think it should come back as a 'proper' manufacturer or be left to rest in peace.

They certainly did. And these days there are kit cars out there which will give TVR quality control (certainly of the RV8 era cars) a run for its money!Apart from the fact it's chosen to ape the McLaren F1 styling a bit too much for my liking I see no problem with the DDR. That said, perhaps a track-biased mid-engined design isn't quite the right fit for the TVR GT mould. One of the early Nobles might be a closer match for the DDR.
Sadly, I don't think there'll ever be a direct, affordable replacement for the TVRs of the past.

Personally whilst i love all the TVR engines,for me the LS series is the way to go,grunt,reliability and endless tuning potential,forget the body style/interior of this car,its mearly an example of what can be built for the money,thats my point !

My point doesn't include the current caretaker of the Marque,i am mearly giving an example of what can be built abroad in a lower cost base country which could be the future of TVR.i'm not talking about kit cars,but complete turn key cars as usual,designed in the UK,Blackpool hopefully, with production farmed out to a country where they can be built to allow them to be competitively sold back in the UK/Europe.Having them built in the States would also help break that market.

Far too many folk get hung up on Brand....
I would personally prefer to buy a car if it was built in Blackpool and badged as say a "Grantura" or a "VTR" or "VRT" or "RTV", "Moleskin" etc etc.
TVR was never about the brand in my book. It was all about the car! and the guys building them.
TVR's biggest faux par was meeting the demand for its cars...
