Battery / charging / alarm??

O.K. the car hasn't covered many miles over the winter, started using it again over the last couple of months, had a pump relay go, flattened the battery trying to sort it and it hasn't quite been the same since.
Last weekend, jump start drove for ten miles got home batt still flat.
Charged battery overnight, car started fine. Shut car alarm on, struggled next day. Shut car, no start following day.
Sunday light charge, drove to Exeter, left later that night, struggled to start, got back to Plymouth alarm on half hour, no start. Left car in garage without alarm on, just gone out.....started. Don't think it's alternator as once it is started no problem with lights on etc..

Anyone suffered similar on a 4 litre Chim/Griff?

By the way ot has not had a battery for the two and a half years I have owned it.

just sounds like your battery is dud. As per your posts on the chim forum, buy a new one and see what happens but sounds the same pattern as when mine was on the way out.

Thanks mate, ordered an extra heavy 075 Exide Ultra battery with a four year warranty for £29 plus VAT, going in Saturday along with the PAS pipe hopefully!!!

Where are you staying in LeMans?

we are in Houx mate. if you are anywhere near keep your eye out for my chim although still waiting for it back from the doctors at the moment and at this rate I could end up in the Rover

Whilst I dont mind doing a battery change for a fellow PHer on a bank holiday weekend, don't go thinking my services will be available whilst on my hols

to be honest mate unless you are planning any night driving its pretty pointless. I certainly begrudge halfwits charging me £7 for 2 bits of sticky plastic so its insulation tape over mine in that pic. The only reason I have done it is cos I am carrying on down through france to andorra/spain etc and so chances are I will be on the road at night at some stage. Last year just doing the LM weekend I didnt use the car after about 3 pm each day.
