'Ring in a Chimp

No doubt there are a few on here who have lapped the 'Ring in a Chimaera. I'm doing it for the first time at the Oldtimer GP in a couple of weeks.
Any advice please on what speed I can get round the Karousel at without falling off?
Chimp is well sorted with new tyres, springs, shocks etc; and I have extensive track day experience at UK circuits.

Just take it easy your first time around. Just treat it as a spirited B road hoon and no more than 7/10 commitment.
I spent 3 months on the playstation before my first visit...by the third sequence of bends i was in the goove knew where i was, how tight the next bend was...yada yada. But what the playstation doesnt teach you is where the cambers and bumps are!...my first time through the carousel was way to fast! the vibration was incredible and I exited it airborn! at a bum twitch'n angle facing an armco!
. Needless to say, i took it a lot slower the next lap...lol

Needless to say, i took it a lot slower the next lap...lolEntry into 'Karussell' is quite slow since it is at the top of an incline and has a blind entry, it needs a lot of practice and nerve to do well. The racing line is to keep the car in the middle of the track on exiting the right hander (after Klostertal), climb the incline and aim for a reference point in the trees at the top (there used to be a tall lone pine) and you should drop into the concrete banked section with the banking taking you 'in' as it where. Keep the nearside wheels about a foot up from the bottom line of the banking and under constant throttle let the Karussell take you round. For the exit, aim the centre of the car at the top angle where concrete meets tarmac in the centre of the track and the bend will feel like its ejecting you out.

Yup, thats me - proper name is Paul Hudson - blue TVR Chimp. Many years ago - about '98-99, TVRCC in Ox was dead. Me and a guy called Steve (can't remember his surname, but he had a V6 S2) revived it.nutsytvr said:

When you arrive at Karousel you will know what speed you need to be doing. Any advice please on what speed I can get round the Karousel at without falling off?

My main advice is that just when you think you are beginning to memorise sequences and think you know which way the next bend goes make sure you are going slowly enough to correct when you suddenly realise it goes the other way!!!!
Have fun...

Use the red/white striped curbs as a guide.
Use the tree line to help follow the track.
keep to the right (overtake on the left)
marshalls posts (there are some) are opposite the apex
