HELP!!! Low oil pressure

I was cruising back this evening in the T350 and was doing a quick test of the speed quotes but then all of a sudden the warning flashed low oil pressure, for the last mile as i was nearly home the oil pressure while idleling was only at 9 psi and if you accelerated only went up to 35 psi, this seemed v-low.

as soon as i stopped i checked the oil level and it was fine, the engine is running fine, any ideas anybody? Will call the dealer tomorrow, but not much help as i am living in italy

well if the oil level is ok then that leaves either:

(a) the oil pressure guage or sender unit, or

(b) oil pump failure.

First step is to try another (preferably mechanical) pressure guage screwed straight into the block in place of the existing sender.

Maybe it got really hot after your speed testing. Perhaps it will be find once it has cooled down again.

was running fine, water at 80, oil at 85
thats whats strange

ps, amazing how the t350 is more stable at speed than the tuscan!

Sacha, it sounds like a sensor fault.

It says on your profile you're in Udine so why not call up U.K. Garage in Milan? They are dealers for TVR in Italy and apparently know their stuff: tune and build F3 and Alfa Touring cars. I'm having mine serviced by them when I'm over there next month. The guy you need to speak to is Alessandro Breveglieri on ([phone]. Let me know how you get on.

it is a faulty sensor, i called my dealer and we did a few tests and so its good news. about uk garage, i wasnt sure if they are official, I know the recomended importer/dealer is in cremona (easy access, you dont have to go into milan!). Thanks anyway i will do some more research and find out.

Blackpool weren't "enthusiastic" about Cremona hence I'll be using U.K. Garage in Milan(the factory assured me it is a dealer). I know it's a bind getting into the centre but they offered to collect it from outside of town if I wanted.

Live and work in the U.K. but I hate every minute

I get back to Parma quite often. Can't wait to sell up and move back for good

Sacha - what did these tests comprise of? Might be useful for the rest of us in case we need to diagnose whether we have sensor faults in the future ...

more just looking that the sensor isnt leaking oil, on the t350 the sensor is below the air box. dealer said that they are not very good and fail often as they are not preset and are ajustable!
if there is a leak the sensors tend to fail. also if the oil pressure light does not come on and there is no efi fault it usually means a faulty sender unit.
