i know, didnt realise i hadnt put much in it, anyway im in middlesbrough (carling cup winners town!)
dont want to have to use dealer such as harrogate h c.
are u just getting the plastic screen re done or is that including the whole drop down section( doubt it)
id really like to get this problem sewn up !!!

Just repaired some stitching on mine using one of these,

Seemed to work fairly well, but it is quite a tiring, monotonous job. If you have to stitch more than about 12 inches, I'd get somebody else to do it.

The stiching gave up the ghost round my rear screen, so I just had the screen replaced, which gave the added benefit of providing a rear view! 
You should check with your insurance company whether this is covered on your windscreen policy as mine was (with NU Direct at the time), so I only had to pay the £60 excess (the whole job was £290 inc. VAT, although I think this was quite dear) and it didn't affect my NCB.

ive ordered the stitching kit tho, and while im at it the roof paint stuff from thingybobs, so a bit of work to do at the weekend
Brushy, I'm in the North East (Newcastle) and had the same problem as you with my S. I atually had an entire screen put in as mine was very yellow. North Eastern Trimmers near Byker did a very good job for around £220. Best to get it done properly, apparently you need to get it done before it unstitches any more as the backing ring is used to tension the screen and if it comes off too much the screen can become wavy.

g pain in the arse (I wasn't using a specific kit mind you), although it did provide a passable running repair, and didn't stop them from doing the proper repair when the time came, so you've got nothing to lose.I started the self same thread a couple of weeks ago.
I ended up taking the hood off the car, after getting written instructions on here.

I took my hood to a local upholsterer and between the two of us we fed it through her big sewing machine.
Easier to do than I thought it would be.
We did about 12 inches of stitching (x 2) and it took about ten minutes.
Did the stitching in Black rather than Silver, just in case it was 'a bit wobbley'.
It was indeed a 'bit wobbley' in one place; but Hey! it cost me nothing and the upholsterer said that given a bit of practice on large bulky car hoods she would do better next time.
