Nitrons vs Bilstein dampers

When we were talking to Peter Wheeler at the Motorshow, we discussed the various changes made to the new Tuscan suspension setup. One of the points raised was that they are moving over to Bilstein dampers instead of their own. How do these compare to Nitrons performance and price wise?

This also brings up this scenario: if Bilstein dampers are now the 'factory approved' part, then would fitting them to my Mk I Tuscan not be considered an 'upgrade' but merely a replacement with standard parts? You can see where I'm going with this...

TVR not using a part that they built in-house? Next you'll be telling me that they don't weave their own carpet or forge their own bronze!

Bilstein are normally excellent and std fit on many high performance cars. Should be a step in the right direction, whether they'd be as good as 250 quid /corner shocks then mabye not.

I´ve just had an insurance claim which included the cost of rebuilding one of the Nitron shocks. I never declared them as I don´t consider them anything other than better quality replacements at around the same price as originals. My insurance company never questioned them so I wouldn´t even think about it with updated standard fit replacements.
