Insurance - ARRGGHHH

So it's that time of year, and I foolishly thought that since I'd owned the Chimaera for 9 months without incident, I might expect a slightly less extortionate insurance quote... but no. After numerous phone calls, I have got this far:

Sunninghills £1,335.55 Needs Tracker Monitor - have Retrieve (add £558)
ClassicLine NA Will only quote on garaged cars
Tesco £1,653.75 £1,932.00 with protected no claims
Privledge £1,685.00
SURETERM DIRECT NA Nothing returned!
Direct Line £1,829.10
Liverpool Victoria NA Need to be over 30!
Peart £1,720.00
A Manning £1,649.00
Direct Choice £4,600.00 !!!
Cheam Insurance Will call back - still haven't
MSM Insurance NA Won't insure ungaraged and over £15k
Elephant.co.uk £1,692.30 including girlfriend
A1 £3,100.00 !!!

Think I'm going to stick with Elephant, because they are my current insurers (no transfer malarkey), will protect the no claims, I don't have to mess around getting the tracker activated, and they'll cover the lady as well!

Any other ideas before I hand over vast amounts of hard earned cash???

Male, 27, 9 years no claims, no accidents, limited to 6,000 miles, but... 1 sp50, sw17, kept on the street, business use to multiple destinations... does it get any worse???

Just got quote from Peart and Mannings for Griff 500
£565 and £568. 2 yrs NCD and 6 points for an IN10 although the conviction is nearly 5 years old.

What about Direct Line? They are usually pretty competitive.

Try Tesco. I have had a quote of £800ish for a 95 Chim 400. 27y/o, 9 years no claim, one accident, no convictions, garaged in an RH13 postcode.

confused.com worked well for me earlier in the year - although not sure who they'll contact who you haven't already talked to. Might be worth a try though.

Just tried them - they were too embarassed to even tell me how much their quote came out at!!!

Actually, should look on the bright side - the sun's shining, and I have the most fantastic car! So what could possibly be the problem???

Direct line are taking you for a ride

I am 28, 6 years no claims, SP30, girlfirend also insured with no no claims and is 26. With protected no claims, I got £800 with direct line.

Buckinghamshire - off street - Pleasure (still a V good deal). Cant see that this would shave £1000 + off the insurance though.

I'm with Direct Line too. 38, Full NCB, 1999 Griff 500. Car parked on private drive, Reading area, 10,000 miles per year limit. Full private and business use and also have the g/f on the policy.

£800 - agree Direct Line are extracting the urine.

Aren't Direct Line linked with Tecos? Same insurer or something?

Did manage to use my negotiation skills when I phoned up Elephant - said give me £50 off and I'll buy it now... and they gave me £70 off! A small consolation, but better than nothing.
