Gents,

I know Gerry Sagerman at New York was the US importer for TVR until about 1980.

I have bought a LHD 1979 3000S recently, whom was apparently the last of the batch, believed shipped in 1979, sat in store and shipped back to Holland, 1982 to be delivered.

Does anybody know how TVR shipped ? Via Liverpool/London/other port (and to which port, New York ?) with which shipping line ?

I'm trying to piece together the history of my car

Thanks for your answers/reactions !

Frank,

I'm not 100% on this, but I have a copy of "TVR - the early years" and I'm sure there is a picture of Granturas being loaded onto an Aer Lingus cargo flight - I'd guess this was from Manchester airport.

Without hunting for the book right now, I seem to remember the photo was at the same time as the UK dock strike (hence the air cargo) and was coincident with the US Customs impounding of several cars...which hit the cashflow of the company big time.

Hi Nick,

I see, i'll have a look tonight, got the book on the shelf.

On a different matter, you've got a black 3000S, think you've bought a new license plate, TVR301S (from Craig)'bout 3 yrs ago, correct ?
Earlier I had bought the car (red one, see my profile)
At present working on the LHD blue one (major overhaul, just short of a body off)

Cheers

Frank - think you've got me confused with someone else.

I'm currently driving a 2004 Tuscan S. Enjoy the car - after the resto.
I did the 'Ring Old Timer GP mid-August...was great fun and a few Dutch cars visited.
Best.
