Quite impressed...

A few of you will know that I'm borrowing a Tuscan S for the day in a couple of weeks with a view to swapping my Griff for next season.

I went down to the Motor Show to see two cars in particular, the convertible Tuscan... which I now think is a bit too sleek and... and I hasten to add, only in my humble opinion... feminine... and also the new Marcos TSO.

Bill at Gorners has kindly arranged the Tuscan S for me so that I can have a good drive and see what Vicki thinks to it.

I was however mightily impressed when I found an email this morning from none other than Tony Stelliga, Chairman of Marcos. He had seen my comments on here and was confirming that he would arrange for a test drive up in Yorkshire for me. He is even going to arrange for a picture of the car in the Austin Healy colour scheme that I have been banging on about! Not only that... he also has a Tuscan S himself so suggested I do back to back drives

If the Marcos goes as good as it looks it will give me one hell of a predicament

unless TVR are planning to launch a new Griff that is...

Hmmmm, wonder why the chairman himself has a Tuscan? Product research or are they a better car than he can turn out? Interesting to find out!!

It's that sort of attention that swings the vote in many cases.

Any idea on the prices for the TSO?

I might like to add that I was also impressed at the way neither Gorner's or Marcos said any bad words about their competition.

Why does Peter Wheeler drive a Land Rover?... sometimes he just likes to drive something different I suppose. The fact that the Chairman of Marcos also drives a TVR says to me that he appreciates cracking cars and is obviously on the same wavelength as a lot of us guys on here.

I wasn't that keen on seeing the pictures originally, but it is growing on me very quickly.

Personally, I resolutely refuse to buy a new car though! It'll be interesting to see the prices in a year or two... Very tempting...

Is this a point where I could but in and say TVR should not have gone six. I should stay and develop the eight into all four valves.

Call me old fashioned but you just can't beat a V8

Chevy 5.7 I should hope so

But having said that, I am getting more used to the Speed 6 sound... only thing is it needs to be on full chat to sound REALLY good whereas a yank V8 sounds good just sat there picking it's nose

When you think about the Marcos, given the weight of the car that is a BIG engine (double the cc /weight of car to M3?) Compared to a Griff though, it is a nice logical step - engine wise

Seems to work in my cobra . Same engine, much nicer body than the marcos.

Ah, now for some reason the old AC Cobra shape has never held much interest for me, maybe a bit too much chrome? I don't know... but the new one that they released last year, that most Cobra fans hated, I, for some strange reason liked

... but then I wear loud shirts and silly hats so hey ho

Good to hear that Tony Steglia, and Marcos as a company, are reading this forum, it's a superb resource.

though I'll try and remember to take some static ones ... or see if I can get one of the guys to put it a bit sideways for the camera
