Discussion
There's been a few threads in recent times on the troublesome problem of stone chipping. The front skirt and bonnet of my Chimaera is beginning to look a bit tatty so I thought I'd commission Chips Away (www.chipsaway.co.uk) to look at fixing the problem.
One of their guys pitched up to have a look at the job and told me that whilst the procedure is fine for the odd chip it just wouldn't be cost effective in my case - the front skirt really is peppered with chips.
But I also had half a dozen scratches around the boot area (clumsy first attempts at stowing the roof panel) and also a couple of scratches and scrapes to the paint work on the door. Chips Away worked its magic and I'm really pleased with the results - none of the scratches are at all visible now. The cost for the scratches was 120 quid.
Conclusion : Chips Away great for isolated scrapes and scratches but a front-end respray is the only answer to a stone-chipped front end.
Hope this is useful to some of you PistonHeaded TVR owners.
