My old Wedge 400SE with B/V heads made 251bhp
My old 450SE with B/V heads made 283bhp
My old Chimp 430 I think without B/V made 255
My old Griff 500 with a worn cam made 227

All calculated flywheel figures.

Add in 200, 280 turbo, 350SE (4 litre engine) 390, 420 and 660.

I'd guess for all RV8 engined TVR's 15% down on claimed. Why do you ask?

I'm guessing his Chimp doesn't feel anywhere near the feel of the Griff he sold.

That would give unusually strong 500s though... wink

the sag last April, again standard, was 355bhp and 290ftlbs torque.

Chim 400, 220bhp calculated at the fly following a new cam, prior to this, with 5 worn lobes of which 3 were circular, around 170-180 at the fly...

A rib at Rob really, but him having a Chimp makes it a bit sweeter. Wonder if he'll come to the Growl next year??

That surprises me - both much lower BHP than I would have thought...

I thought these were "supposed" to be ~400BHP-ish...?

And the (modified) 3.6's listed a couple of posts above seem very close in terms of power...

confused

Same as with the 4.0/4.3/4.5 and 5.0 RV8s or 4.2 and 4.5 Cerbs - cooking versions actually could make something pretty close to their stated power (if you were lucky), but the power differential between them and the top b*ll*ck versions was always massively overstated...

I think that this is close to it without a long answer. Same with the S6 designed as a 3.0 and 3.6. Wonder away from the 'sweet spot' in cc that the engine was designed for and it can take quite a few mods to get the same bhp/litre. (Forget who it is now but someone at the factory said that no 4.5 AJP V8 ever left the factory with more bhp than a 4.2.)
