My mates 12000 mile Boxster S has put a grin on my face.
Reverse lights don't work, new discs required at £1300 plus pads and the cigarette lighter has failed! Oh and the alarm goes off when the battery runs down and can only be deactivated by a Porsche dealer!
Cigarette lighter = battery trickle charger = wake up at 4 am with your alarm going off.
Laugh I nearly bought a round. Mind you I'm going to have to drive the Griff rather gingerly!

Errr do you mean the bulb's gone. My Chimaera does that every other week. Or perhaps the sensor in the gear box is stuffed? I have heard it happens on the BoxS occasionally. Oh and you guessed it - it's gone twice so far on my Chimaera,

Blimey! In 12,000 miles? How many track days has he done? I've done a goodly number and the discs are fine! Tyres and pads are on their way out though...

I suspect the goodwill system will see that fixed if it isn't under warranty. Things like that should simply not go wrong. VEG said:

The battery goes down!!!?????!?!??? I have left mine for three weeks before now and it starts on the button. Unless he's got a duff battery he simply shouldn't need to trickle charge the damn thing...

That's the problem. Get rid of trickle charger. Waste of time unless its being left over the whole of the winter - and there's no need to do that. Its a car. It needs to be driven. Wet and icy roads no problem...

It'll go wrong if its going to go wrong. You only drive a TVR gingerly if its wet.
Take your mate out in it and cheer him up, eh? Just don't be putting it in a hedge...

My point, in a smiley way, was that if ever he should experience problems with his Griff, he should expect his Porkie mate to pick up this link and paste it (in a light hearted manner of course!!) in the Porsche forum.

TVR has much better styling, noise and acceleration but along the twisting roads I'd say the Boxster S would win, you can chuck it round those corners and bends and it doesn't move an inch. More importantly, both cars also take my full trolly load of weekly Tesco shopping!!!

Agreed. And as do I.....its a wonderful thing to have a Porsche and a TVR to choose from when the garage door is opened...
Indeed, I would have thought that the two make the ultimate combination and pretty much cover every aspect of the sports car genre.
To be able to open the garage and chose between an over-engineered, excellent handling, reliable sports car or a lump of agricultural, British, pure fun and adrenaline means to be very lucky indeed.
Pretty sure I'm going to end up with a 996T as an everyday car when the 540 needs changing next year but it is to complement the Griff, not to replacement or rival. The two are at the opposite ends of the sports car principle. And at the top of their market.
