Does anyone know why www.findasportscar.co.uk has been down for the last week or so? Has anyone used these guys (or similar services) to help them find a car? What were your experiences? I'm thinking of getting them to find me a Chim...

Cheers,
-Mat

If it's a TVR you're looking for why not try Rob Ingleby? He specialises in TVRs and has received some very good reports on here.

Yes, I've used Rob (aka Find-a-sports-car). As per my comments on other threads, I was very happy with the service he provided. Suggest you have a chat with him first and discuss what you're after. Rob has extensive knowledge of TVRs but he has found other makes of cars for clients as well.

Basically, he gets an idea of what you're after and goes out looking for good examples. He then checks over the cars and reports back to you on what he's found. You then decide which ones you want to view. When you see one you like he will do the negotiation on your behalf to get a good price and will arrange an HPI check.

He provides this service on a flat fee basis. In my case he more than earnt this purely on the price he negotiated on the car. I've ended up with a good car purchased at a good price with minimum hassle (no travelling the 4 corners of the country wasting time looking at dog-eared cars) and without the dealer margin.

He was at 'Back Home' last weekend. He tells me he's now left his day job and is doing this as a full time job. The last contact nos I had for Rob were: 01280 706332 and 07799 142860 (mobile).

Yes, my mate bought a Red 4.0 Chim through him, I think his first sale after he quit the day job. Seems like a nice enough guy, knows his TVR's, and if you don't know much about TVR's or haven't them time to look yourself he's probably worth a try.

PS if you do use Rob get him to double check the sellers name before you get a bankers draft made out!

Maybe the ulterior motive for the plug then.

Shared a couple of sherberts with him late last Saturday night, it's amazing what inspiration comes to mind when you've had a few too many. Anyway, he ended up taking car photos in the rain waiting for the cavalcade to move off the next morning. Sorry Ted

I like many people didn't really have the time to travel the length of the country every weekend to check out the cars that 'sounded' good in the adverts.
Rob does this for you as part of the ‘package’; you only view the cars that he has given the OK on. Believe me this will save you a lot of time and wasted journeys. Combined with the fact he will negotiate the price, not that he knocks it down excessively for any paranoid sellers out there, he knows the true going rate and therefore what you should pay. This in its self is normally enough to cover his fee.
You may even be surprised that he already 'knows' just the car you're after. It took him about three months to find 'my' car and believe me if I trusted myself I would have bought the first half-decent car I tried!
I wouldn't hesitate to use him again and I probably will in a couple of years when the 500 urge gets too great.
As has already been said, give him a ring, it can't hurt.

I've met Rob a few times recently, very professional. If you don't really know what you're looking for then employ his services, he really seems to go to great lengths to find good honest cars and I've not heard a bad word about him. recomended.

Rob found me my P-reg Chimaera in January, he did a great job - but it's worth letting him know the precise upper limit of your budget! ... saves wasting anyone's time!
Cheers Rob - still waiting for the piccy of me getting my keys!

Is Find a Sportscar still in business?

I've tried email but email on the website doesn't work. I've tried phoning the numbers on the website but there's no answer and no one returns my messages.

Most impressive. Was the wedge on a roofrack on the cerbie?
