Hi,

Don't mean to start a war but does anyone know if this has been done, or how feasible it would be?

I'm sure i'm not the only one who's thought about it...

Too wide a vee I believe. But am prepared to be corrected.

If a RV8 fits, then I'm sure there are a lot of 'better' engines would fit.

If you have about 28" or just under the ls1 should fit. I'm sure it will fit the other models as well but not the wedge unless you like skinning your knuckles a lot

Think you will find a small block ford V8 (289, 302 352 etc) is narrower than a Rover V8.

Click on link and see chart at bottom of page.

Thought an M3 engine and box would make a great conversion

I have a Cerbera with a 4.6 rover engine fitted. Loved the sound and torque of the Griffs and the shape of the Cerbs. Now got the best of both worlds. Rover engine is a light engine, capable of delivering good horse power and reliability.

Phill,

That's exactly the sort of thing i'm after - either to buy or to have any information you can provide me with about the conversion.

Would be especially interested in wiring information and any pictures of any part of the conversion that you may have.

[cheeky]
Perhaps i could even see the car at some point?

The car is off the road having the air con pump and PAS pump re-sited at the moment but if anyone wants to see it, mail me and I'll let you know when its ready.
The conversion involves cutting and moving some chassis crossmembers due to increased length of the Rover engine. New engine mountings are also fabricated and welded in. Obviously this work has to be accurate and carried out to a very high standard using high quality materials. Once the engine is in, the exhaust manifolds and system are fabicated and fitted as well as various brackets for the ancillaries. Engine management used is dependant on power outputs.
This car uses the standard gearbox but automatics could be fitted!
We have patterns for all this work if anyone else wants one built.

Whilst I can see the logic and reason behind doing this, surely it devalues the Cerb?

I'm sure it's a VERY professional job of conversion but whilst you can still get a Sp6/AJP Cerb brand new I question the market for it. Perversely the RV8 is the discontinued engine (Yes, I know, shedloads of spares and tuning opportunities) but personally it would put me off.

Why do I get images of old Perkins diesel engines in Jags?

Other than reduced running costs, what benefits are there in surplanting the AJP in favour of the RV8?

IMHO it is the AJP8 that gives the Cerb the majority of it's individual character. I certainly wouldn't look at a Cerb with a RV8 engine and can imagine it being a devil to sell on.

Am I missing something obvious?
