... this time around.
Presently having a service and MOT but suspected exhaust gasket leak is actually 2 cracked manifolds - oh and she needs a new rad apparently
At least my Mum is staying with us at the moment so I`ll have to sell her

Don't know where you are based but i just got my rad recored (they use both ends but that's it, the whole middle is thrown).
Cost 160 quid and it works better than ever, looks like new, and was turned around in 24 hours.
Took the old one out and put the new one in myself. Not difficult at all (especially if you read the 'bible' first).
Bible helps with refilling coolant as well (thanks shpub!).

I'll give you £100 and an 8 month old for your mum....I have a bit of gardening that needs doing and some ironing
Done
But you can keep your lovely daughter as I know she will grow into a teenager and as we have 2 already, I can tell you they are much more expensive to "run" than a TVR!!
I think I'll win this one, expecting the car sooner or later, but until Dr Joolz manages to perfect the 32 hour day I'll have to wait in line
I'm not 100% sure of the full extent of the work yet but 8 new piston liners and a new cam have been mentioned
then theres a masive amount of highly skilled workers labour to put the whole lot back together again and get it running

mine has cost me around £2k in 6 weeks, and thats with several long labour jobs done myself (door internals taken apart for a door solenoid replacement and dash off for heater cable replacement)
ouch. Still, as I get the impression most people have, I cant wait to get the old girl back

8 liners ?????? ![]()
What did you do to your engine ?????
Not sure, but you've all seen Satos BAR engine at most F1 races, it looked like that
I think only one had shot it, but it's one of those 'while your in there' type jobs
All unnessasery expenditure has been stopped until I finally see the bill, then I'll be looking for single stockings and sawnoff shotguns on ebay and watching deliverys of giros at my local Post Office

There's a 'like new' rad for sale via the Berks TVRCC website for £100. Any help ?

Thanks for that, but I think they did that bit today!

Ian,
I thought that mine was going to be more expensive to repair. So I will be keeping my fingers crossed, hope that my problem is what was originally diagnosed.

Hi Steve,
I was clinging to the hope it would just be gaskets but wasn`t completely surprised it wasn`t. The left manifold is worse with the right one just starting to crack - so both being done. I was surprised about the radiator though
It`s a measure of our passion for this car though that we would be prepared to sacrifice other things if needed to keep her on the road

Luckily my Mum (who`s staying with us for a couple of weeks) didn`t like the idea of me selling her to NickP for ironing so has contributed some folding towards the bill
