New MOT and removed standard fit Cats...

I promise I have tried to do a search on this and didn't get anywhere so go easy on me when pointing me towards the previous discussion but according to here the new MOT regs starting in January state...
"A catalytic convertor fitted as original equipment but missing will be a reason for failure."
Now I haven't pulled out any of my cats yet but what are the guys who have removed theirs assuming will happen? I guess you're just assuming that as the cats themselves aren't visible then no-=one will notice your precats are missing?

Hmmm ... I know they're not necessary but that wording was such that it implies that if they were there when teh car was new they have to remain there ... not that it just has to pass the emissions test.
Of course identifying whether the cats are still in the manifolds is pretty nigh on impossible!

Err..no, its pretty easy. Tap them with a screw driver and if the noise is dink, dink, dink, then they have been removed (or disintegrated). If, however the noise is dunk, dunk, dunk then they are there (although probably melted and costing 80BHP).Phil

A lot of people are under the impression that there is a precise noise limit for a car or bike and that it is probably measured in decibels....apparently she's a little loud now with a sleeved exhaust.

Very few seem to realise that (most?) racetracks are better 'protected' from noise than the public roads
In any case Phil, from earlier descriptions of your dedication to in car entertainment systems, I should think the exhaust noise is less of a concern to the public than your stereo

Ahhh that was my younger years when I was childish and irresponsble...(/me awaits any "No change there then" comments.)
...I used to do some "scary" installs - 137db just on Pink Floyds "Pulse" was my last big system in my old 200SX. Now I work for the cmpany that does the "premium" HiFi option for Bentley and I do rather fancy trying one of the Bentley amps in the Tiv.
