S-type blood? isn't that mainly mondeo blood! yuk! ![]()
( . . . )
Yep! Yuk.
I mean the looks off course. I am a PH member FFS!!!
The ride can stay as is. I never read about any complaint so . . . The plant can be checked out at Yamaha or BMW or Cosworth or . . .
A tuned down Judd V10 anyone?

The S-Type is based (IIRC) on a Ford USA/Lincoln platform, it's the X-Type which is based on the Mundano.
Don't actually think there was much wrong with the old AJP V8, other than the enormous production cost.
I agree, the Cerbera is about due for a replacement or revamp - a 4 seat Typhon could hardly be said to occupy similar price/practicality territory - although sadly, I guess that will be the end of teh AJP V8...

That's the reason I opt for BMW / Yamaha to come in. They can look at cutting costs production.

Tuned down? DOWN!!?? Have you taken leave of your senses man? This is TVR we are talking about, give it a tweak
I guess a Judd V10 needs a rebuilt every 1000 miles or so . . . So it can cope with a bit tune down yes . . . It will give 450+ anyway, which will suit the Cerbie . . .

What do you think the AJP V8 is? Rumour has it it is a Judd V10 sans deux cylinders.
There's nowt wrong with the AJP, except that it is costly to maintain. Which is a likely trait of a 420+ bhp engine n'est pas?

Let BMW, or Yamaha take a look at the AJP 4.5. Just for reliability and all that.
OK, we won't mention nikasil then...
We are past that:
"What is the “Nikasil issue”?
The “Nikasil issue” is a serious problem that affects all BMW motor cars with engine blocks with “Nikasil” liners in their alloy block when high sulphur fuel has been used. This is 8-cylinder models with the M60 engine made from approximately 1993 to 1996, and 6-cylinder models with the M52 engine made between 1995 and 1998 (note M52 Nikasil engine never went to the USA). The “Nikasil issue” is extremely serious as the final result is a non-functioning engine. The material “Nikasil” is also known as “Galnikal”. "Nikasil" is a very hard dispersion layer of galvanically (electrolytically) applied Nickel applied to the soft alloy bores to prevent wear. If this hard layer is damaged, excessive bore wear occurs rapidly."

Yamaha also used it on the engine they developed with Ford - the 1.7VCT unit fitted to the Puma...

I thought about Yamaha to check up / improve the AJP lump because they did so for Ford and now Volvo's v8 . . .![]()
Any suggestions for the next gen Cerbera?
hmm... why not Jaguar...? Decent supply, 400 genuine horsepower is easily obtainable AND reliable... Alternatively the Ford Mustang engine (as used in the older style Marcos) or the LS!, as suggested before...
Any suggestions for the new Cerbera? Sure. Leave it exactly as it is as far as overall conception is concerned, and let's see some serious development on handling/steering/ride/brakes, overall driveability and most of all production engineering so every Cerbie off the line stands a decent chance of being a good 'un.
Why not re-engineer the AJP lump .. add 2 extra cams
4 valves per cylinder, improve the inlet .. down tune
to current 350 (4.2) and 420 (4.5) levels of power to help reliability .. but HP figures can now be real and not inflated to sell cars
That should give Ravencroft something to do...

IMHO TVR have enough cars that are to be released or just recently released. So product range is full of young designs with the possible exception of the Cerbera.
So if they are going to develope a new car please take a bit longer 2-3 years even and really have a go at getting the quality more in line with mainstream car manufacturers.
They need in my view to:
> Galvanise the chassis and wishbones
> Make sure speed 6 is perfect, drop other engines to save cost of required.
> Proper flush glazing so that wind nose is at a minimum. TVR will never be a serious manufactuer if the windows are still held in place with bits of bubbley mastic and rubber hacked about with a stanley knife. Just looks tacky
> Proper moulded carpets, not ones stiched round the ends that curl up at the slightest sighn of mositure.
And besides I love the cerbera shape, which is why I have one... and am gluttons for punishment..
