can anyone help me find either or both, the main/dip beam control unit and the headlight full beam control unit.
i can only get the lowest light which is more or less undriveable at night or full beam, i dont get in between main beam.
tvr mechanic checked both units and both had slight burn/smoke stains and smelt of burning.
rather than send them away and lose the caar for Christmas where i was hoping to use it more and learn to love it. i would rather hope to get some elsewhere.
i am in stansted , but have cash, will travel :-)
Thanks in advance
Lester

Normal and best route for this is to solder the cables under most load (Burnt ones) direct to PCB board

Not tidy looking but never had a problem since, and still easy to remove if needed.

By the look of the picture the 'weak' spot that causes the high resistance is the plug and socket connection, so by cutting the wires off the plug and then soldering them onto the circuit board inside the box you bypass that weak point.

doh, i hadnt realised the wires went through the box to the pcb inside, i thought they were somehow joined to the black plastic cover,
told you i was thick lol
i think i will send mine off to be fixed and just use the cerb for days :-)

If you go down the route of fixing the control box the problem will quickly return as you plug in socket is the weak area.

It may be better just replacing the terminals in plug, i have a couple of those you can try.

Where are you in the country? If down south give Carl Baker a ring, chances are he'll fix it within a day. http://www.tvruk.tv/www.tvruk.tv/index-2.html

The best fix is to add a pair of relays in the wing behind the headlamps to drive a direct feed from the battery and earth on the front cross member earth point.
The control box then just pulls enough current to trip the relay.

You do have to unplug one of the dip control box wires to stop the relay chattering when the sidelights are on.

MIKESR... Would you please give us a bit more info regarding setting up the relays under the wings. My lighting control unit and dim / dip are suspect as I just cannot get the dipped beam, main ben and full beam working properly.

The mains started chattering like you said in the post but I don't know why. I have 'cleaned up' the plugs to the light units but this hasn't worked.

Your help would be hugely appreciated.

Regards
Steve
