With over 28,000 members the Gassing Forums would fall into meltdown with many hundreds of threads a day along the lines of happy birthday, anniversary, getting out of bed day etc. That is why they are normally closed. People sometimes complain about consistency on PH but I can say I remember seeing Mrs Fish's Birthday thread a few months ago.

I knew this would happen, which is why I cut and run to PF. 
I'm sorry to all those who are offended, but a consious decision was made by Ted to close all birthday threads because they were becoming too numerous. For consistencies sake I closed it, because if it had been left open, and the next person to post a birthday thread had theirs closed, then there would have been a thread saying, 'Why was mine closed when so and so's was left to run.'
A thread in honour of my 30th birthday in March was also closed after about 5 posts, so it isn't all one sided. I'm getting thoroughly sick and tired of hearing the same old shit when someone gets pi$$ed off about a thread being closed. We are here to do as Ted asks, we also run our decision by the other moderators before we generally close a thread too. You don't realise the amount of threads that are left open if more than 2 mods don't agree on a closure.
Also if Ted doesn't agree with a decision that has been made he will usually reopen a thread.
On that note, I'm off to get a shower, I need to was PF out of my hair
