Took the Chimp out for a blast this morning
started up a dream! 25 miles later as I pull out onto a roundabout - loose all power
engine still running/spluttering manage to coast to the side of the road but cant get much more than a splutter when attempting to rev the engine. Quick
call to the AA - very nice man - was with me in 15 minutes 
Pokes about - battery!!
Jump start and is running ok - whilst leads still connected
tests the circuits with a volt meter - 14v at alternator but only 9-10v at battery 
Pokes, fiddles and prods for 20 mins - no joy!
Offers to get it relayed to TVR Dealer - Dream Machines
I want it to go to Austec at Crawley no problem says he whats the address 
FCUK cant think for the life of me. End up with A.A. battery pack in the passenger footwell connected to my battery for the drive home - anyone ever had one of these in the car with them the bl00dy bleeping from it drives you
Cars is sitting on driveway now
my planned sneak off to P.F is out the window now 
Any suggestions on what to look for
or should I leave it to the experts????I would assume it's just a cell on the battery shorting out which is dragging the system down. Would have thought the nice man would have changed it for you. Unless, not that I have this fitted to my car, so can only relay what ben said before, but the 100A fuse link from the alt is ruptured and you've been running on the battery. Did he measure the 14V on the aback of the alt .
As you started to say get a man who knows to have a lok. I'm sure the Austec guys are at PF themselves this weekend.

Sorry to here that MM. I'm sure that you would now be able to get a relay to the place of your choice. I did this recently when our Disco broke on a Sat morn and the preferred garage wasn't open, they took me home and came back Monday to take it there.
You wave a finger at the idea of it going to Dream Machines. Is there anything I should know about them or do you just prefer Austec because you have used them before?

I'd put money on the 100A fuse link having failed (they usually crack thru' vibration).
Get the front o/s jacked up, crawl underneath & look up at the underside of the o/s engine mount. You should see a black plastic (matchbox sized) box, the fuse link is inside. Have a good look at the link as it's not always obvious when they've cracked.

AA man had a look at the 100A fuse (after I told him where to find it) he said it was ok - Hmmmm - maybe he only looked to see if it had blown and might not have noticed a crack.
Will attempt to wriggle under the car to have a look myself - if I can get a shoe on.
Where can I get a new fuse?

I've not heard anything untoward about Dream Machines, just a long way to go
mind you some nice driving roads on the way home though {decisions, decisions.......} Had planned to book car into Austec for a service after reading/hearing lots of good about them

When it happened to me...on several occasions 
...it turned out to be a faulty ECU. Trev is booked into Austec at the end of this month for his annual service can't remember which date without consulting my diary!

ECU - possibility - passenger footwell is a bit damp/wet from that blasted rain the other night and I forgot the cover Jaunt to P.Fest is well out of the window now! might have a fiddle tomorrow

He met Mini maniac at the time - so he has probably gone long term sick with stress/nerves

Try auto electtric supplies on 01584 819552 part no. 100606 100A Strip fuse looks like the right one.
They are in Tenbury Wells but they will post it to you.
I don't have one on my car and as the fuse does not appear to have blown on yours it is probably safe to by-pass it for now as a test - BUT Be carefull, it is there for protection and I'll put one on mine when I get round to it

Seriously, Darryl let me know if you don't have any luck finding a fuse, I've got a spare in the car.

I wouldn't personally think that the 100amp strip fuse is the problem here as it went on my Griff recently and I drove the car for about 20 miles and all was fine. Well, apart from the battery light being permanently on and the volts dropping down to about 11 or so. My point is that this going shouldn't actually cause the car to break down. Sounds like the problem lies elsewhere to me so could well be the ECU?

Doesnt run so well when the battery is actually flat... i recon u had bout 5 miles left!
Also follows dean's first law of car mechanichalistics; check the cheapest thing first!
